   FIRST DERBY OF YEAR TO BE WATCHED WITH BATED BREATH
   Galatasaray, the current leader of the league who won all the four games they have played, will take on Besiktas, who want to end their draw series, at the Ali Sami Yen Stadium on Saturday. The challenging game between the Lions (Galatasaray), the team scoring the most goals, and the Eagles (Besiktas), the team that gave in the least goals, will begin at 9 p.m.
  
   DEMOLITION TO START
   Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topbas said river beds would be remediated. Topbas also said that a bitter receipt would be implemented to prevent a new flood disaster. “We will mark the route of the Ayamama brook bed, and then we will demolish anything on that route.”

   ISTANBUL MAYOR PLEDGES TO DEMOLISH BUILDINGS ON STREAM BEDS
   Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topbas said all buildings would be demolished on the stream bed of the Ayamama Creek, where several people have been killed by flash floods earlier this week. “We will level down all settlement in the Ayamama,” Topbas said, asking for legal support for compulsory purchase. Topbas said municipalities of the opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) had given licenses to truck parking lots in Istanbul’s Ikitelli district where flash flood caused heavy casualties and severe damage.
  
   MILITARY COURT TRIAL FOR COLONEL REJECTED
   A court in the southeastern province of Diyabakir rejected an appeal for the trial of Colonel Cemal Temizoz in a military court. Gendarmerie regiment commander in the central province of Kayseri, Temizoz stood trial in connection with “death wells” in the Cizre town of the southeastern province of Sirnak. Temizoz was detained in connection with an investigation into excavations where bone fragments were found. He was the gendarmerie commander in Cizre between 1992 and 1994. Excavations were carried in Cizre on claims that missing persons were thrown into acid wells.

   CEM GARIPOGLU CAUGHT IN ARMENIA
   Cem Garipoglu, the suspect murderer of Munevver Karabulut, was caught in a mountain village near Armenia’s border with Russia. Three-member special team of the Police Department followed the money traffic, and reached Cem. Turkish police shared the intelligence with Armenian authorities and the operation began. Garipoglu, who was running away for six and a half months, was caught in a village across Armenia’s border with Russia. Garipoglu was not handed over to Turkey immediately since there are not diplomatic relations between the two countries. A third country was asked to mediate. Negotiations continue. Garipoglu will be in Istanbul in three or four days.
  
   AYAMAMA SCALPEL
   The government and municipality have taken action regarding Ayamama brook that killed 23 in Istanbul. All buildings on the brook of the river will be demolished. The Basin Ekspres highway will also be cleaned. Some of the famous brands on the river bed are Hurriyet Newspaper, Ipek Mobilya (furniture), Hatemoglu (apparel company), Aydinli Tekstil (textile), Ev-Kur (household goods), Oto-King, Star newspaper, Kanal 24 (private TV channel), 212 AVM (shopping mall), Sabri Ozel (apparel company), LC Waikiki (apparel company), Aksa Jenerator (generator), Holiday Inn (Hotel), Suvari Giyim (apparel company), Karaca Giyim (apparel company).
